Her worth is far beyond that of priceless jewels. She has the confidence and heart of her husband, And he lacks no benefit or gain. She is good to him, never wicked, All the days of her life. She seeks wool and flax, And sets her hand to them with determination. She is like a ship upon the water, bearing her food from afar. She rises at the close of night, And provides nourishment for her household, And a portion for her maidens. She sets her mind on a property and obtains it; By the fruit of her labors, she cultivates a vineyard. She envelops herself in a mantle of strength, And fulfills her responsibilities with vitality. She sees that her estate thrives; Her candle does not go out at night. She lays her hand to the distaff; And her palms support the spindle. She gives generously to the poor; She reaches forth her hand to the needy. She is not afraid of the snowy cold, For her whole household is dressed in crimson warmth. She sews bedding and tapestries for herself; Her garments are of fine linen and purple. Her husband is distinguished in the gates, As he sits among the elders of the land. She makes exceptional linens and sells them, And delivers raiments to the merchants. Strength and honor are her clothing, She looks to the future with joy. She speaks words of wisdom; Mercy and compassion are her virtue. She manages the affairs of her household, And does not eat of the bread of idleness. Her children rise up to bless her; Her husband praises her saying: “Many daughters of Israel have done valorously, But you outshine them all.” Grace is deceitful, and beauty is illusory: But a woman in awe of the Lord, she is to be praised. Honor her for the fruit of her hands, And let her deeds praise her in the gates."
